MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Christiansburg Police Department needs the public’s help to identify a person connected with several car thefts on Friday morning.
Police say it happened in the early morning on Friday, Aug. 5 when several parked cars outside of multiple gyms and fitness centers were broken into in Christiansburg.
According to the department, the thieves waited for a group of people to enter the building to attend an early morning fitness class. Then, the thieves went vehicle to vehicle, smashing windows and taking valuable items, such as purses, wallets, or electronics, that were left in the cars.
On the department’s Facebook page, officials stated the person was seen on a bank security camera in Bluefield, West Virginia and this person tried to cash checks that were taken during the vehicle break-ins.
Police believe the Nissan was a rental, but if you recognize the person, you are asked to contact the Christiansburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 540-382-3131, ext. 5301.
