Betty J. Navares

Betty J. Navares, 60, of Raton, NM was called home on August 3, 2022. She was born in Raton, New Mexico the daughter of James “Eddie” and Margie Martinez. Betty was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She worked for many years in home health care where she cared for anyone in need. Betty loved playing bingo in her free time and enjoyed an occasional trip to the slot machines. She was full of energy and loved visiting family and friends in the community, to Betty spending time with the people she loved meant everything.
Betty is survived by her significant other James Vigil of Raton, NM, four sisters Novella Hernandez of Las Cruces, Jo Ann Roman and husband Tom of Raton, NM, Edna Sandoval and husband Roger of Raton, NM, Angel Luksich and husband Raymond of Raton, NM and one brother Sam Martinez of Raton, NM; her children Alex Navares of Raton, NM, Shantel Naranjo and husband Jeromy of Pueblo, CO, Shandon Bailon and husband Angel of Alamosa, CO and Brandon Navares of Alamosa, Co; her grandchildren Asia, Alyssa and Michael Angelo Navares of Alamosa, CO, Analicia, Marissa, Janaya, Daijah, Dominik, Camron and Julian Naranjo of Pueblo, CO, Uriah, Zeyden and Zaniyah Bailon of Alamosa, CO, Donicio and Xzile of Alamosa, CO and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James “Eddie” and Margie Martinez, and siblings James Edward Martinez and Carmen Galvin.
A viewing will be held at the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
A Rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, NM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. concluded by the graveside service which will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery after the mass.
Betty will always be greatly loved and missed, but she will remain in our hearts forever.
