Crash on I-95 North causes 5-mile backup in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North caused significant delays to drivers in Richmond on Monday afternoon.

The crash was located just south of the Interstate 64 exit. According to VDOT the north center lane, right lane and right shoulder on I-95 northbound were all closed.

VDOT reported that there was a 5-mile-long backup from the Bells Road exit to the I-64 exit. At around 5:15 p.m., however, it was reported that the lanes had been reopened. Delays continued for another hour as other incidents on I-95 continued to slow down traffic.
