Sofia Mattsson Opens up About Sasha’s Breakdown on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Everyone was shocked when Sasha smashed a parking sign through Smoltz’s windshield on GENERAL HOSPITAL, including the soap’s crew!

“Always fun at work,” Sasha’s portrayer, Sofia Mattsson, shared on Instagram with a selfie from the studio. “Who saw me smash a windshield this week?! During rehearsal they told me there’s no way I’d be able to break through the glass and that we’d have to fake it broken in between takes… Well, I guess they forgot I have Viking ancestry in me!”

And anyone who watched the Aug. 4 episode of GH knows that there was no trick photography or editing involved as the Swedish-born actress slammed a valet parking sign into the car windshield repeatedly, shattering the glass!

In the comments, actor David Lautman couldn’t resist commenting on the situation in character as Smoltz. “Yeah, we’re going to have to talk about that, you’ll be needing to fix the windshield ASAP,” he joked. “For what it’s worth, though, incredibly impressive demonstration of your sheer strength and determination to destroy property. Well done, Sasha.”

Mattsson replied with a laugh. “Can’t wait to see what happens at our next encounter!” she enthused. “Always great working with you!” To which he responded: “Aw, likewise!”

For all the jokes about Mattsson doing her own stunt, Sasha’s storyline has been a powerfully emotional one that has affected many GH viewers. In fact, there are a lot of fans who are predicting that she’s a shoo-in for a Daytime Emmy Award nomination next year… and even a win!

“Thank you for all the amazing comments,” Mattsson told her fans. “I so appreciate all the kindness and love! I always have a blast playing Sasha Gilmore!”
