Police responded to 32 Intervale Avenue in Mexico around 1:01 p.m.
Inside the home, they found the body of 27-year-old Nicholas Trynor of Mexico.
Police say Trynor had a large gunshot wound on the right side of his of his ribcage and another gunshot wound under his left armpit.
The court documents say police found a spent shotgun shell casing in the hallway of the home.
Police interviewed Trynor's stepfather, 52-year-old Thomas Tellier, about the incident.
Tellier told police that Trynor woke up angry because the power in the home had gone out.
The two then got into an argument after Tellier's 5-year-old son with autism hit Trynor.
After a break in the argument, court documents say Tellier went into his bedroom and grabbed a shotgun.
Tellier shot Trynor twice in the hallway.
According to the court documents, Tellier claimed that he feared for his safety and the safety of his wife and son.
The medical examiner determined that the birdshot wound on Trynor's left side seemed to be from a closer range than the wound on his right side.
In both wounds, the medical examiner found wadding from the shotgun.
Blood was also found on the barrel of the shotgun.
Both gunshot wounds had the potential to be fatal, but Trynor died from the blood loss in his lungs.
On Sunday, police arrested Tellier and charged him with murder.
Tellier is being held at the Oxford County Jail and is expected in court on Monday.
