Cincinnati amusement park fans will have a novel opportunity this weekend to explore the private Stricker's Grove.
The family-owned and -operated, 25-acre old-fashioned amusement park located near Ross, Ohio is closed to the public for most of the year, except for Labor Day, the Fourth of July, Customer Appreciation Day and Family Day, which takes place this weekend.
From noon-8 p.m. Aug. 14, attendees can explore the nostalgia-inducing theme park, which is home to tons of games and classic rides, including a scrambler, tilt-a-whirl and swinging pirate ship.
Stricker's Grove also boasts two roller coasters: the Teddy Bear, originally located at Coney Island and rebuilt at the park, and the wooden Tornado, hand-built by owner Ralph Stricker himself.
If you seek other family-friendly amusements, the Stricker's Grove also has an 18-hole miniature golf course, a shooting gallery, horseshoes and an arcade with video games and Skee-Ball.
Rides are open 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., and the admission fee includes all rides, mini golf and free soft drinks. Bring your own food or buy snacks and alcohol on-site.
