An inmate at the Gib Lewis Prison Unit near Woodville has died as a result of what investigators believe is a case of suicide. This comes just 39 days after a guard at the same facility died in a case of suicide.
The only information released about the inmate was that he was 42-years-old and he was found dead in his cell on Friday, according to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Director of Communications Amanda Hernandez.
Additionally, Hernandez said the Office of Inspector General is investigating the death.
A prison guard at the Gib Lewis Unit died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 27th.
