LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Former Kentucky Justice Cabinet Secretary John Tilley has been arrested on rape charges.
Arrest records indicate that Tilley turned himself in on Monday morning in downtown Lexington and has been charged with first-degree rape. He was lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center with a bond set at zero dollars.
According to Tilley’s arrest citation, he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a female individual that was not able to consent due to her level of intoxication. The citation labeled the violation date as April 15.
Tilley’s attorney issued a statement that he maintains his innocence and has no further comments at this time.
Tilley formerly served as a Democratic state representative and as a state justice department cabinet member during Gov. Matt Bevin’s administration.
