Former Camarillo coach Ron Wilson to be inducted into California Wrestling Hall of Fame

Ron Wilson, who coached the Camarillo High wrestling team to high achievements for 40 years before retiring in 2020, is among the 10-member class to be inducted into the California Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Wilson will be formally inducted at a ceremony at the Laguna Hills Community Center on Oct. 15.

Wilson won 11 league championships during his reign with the Scorpions, while compiling a record of 475-199-2. He wrestling collegiately for UC Santa Barbara.

Among his accomplishments at Camarillo was coaching three CIF-SS Masters champions, nine CIF-SS individual champions and 18 CIF-State qualifiers.

His teams won league championships in the Marmonte, Coastal Canyon and Pacific View leagues.

He has served as the National USA head coach, assistant coach for USA World Junior Elite Team, and assistant training site director for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

He's a member of the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame
