Mom Riding E-Bike with Toddler Killed in Collision with SUV in Carlsbad

A mother riding an e-bike with her daughter in Carlsbad was transported to the hospital Sunday with serious injuries after a colliding with an SUV, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.

The woman died Monday from her injuries at the hospital, police said.

The 35-year-old woman was riding on an e-bike near the intersection of Basswood Avenue and Valley Street with her 16-month-old daughter when the two collided with a 42-year-old woman in a Toyota 4-Runner around 6 p.m. Sunday, police said. The child did not appear injured but was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and worked with police on the investigation.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Investigators are seeking witnesses to the collision. If you were a witness, please call the Accident Investigator, Corporal Matt Bowen at 442-339-2282.

Police do not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
