“It was a great weekend for Vikette Softball. Our Varsity went 2-0 beating Berrien and Forsyth Central and our JV got the win against Lee. Co. We also had a ribbon cutting for our first official game on the new field. Our new Superintendent, Dr. Haralson, threw out our ceremonial first pitch to open up the 2022 season. I believe that Coach Redshaw would agree that the majority of our umpires would have called it a strike,” says head coach Stewart Thomas. “This is a really fun team to watch, so if you could not make it out Friday, our Varsity will play host to Houston Co. this Friday at 6:00. Go Vikings and Vikettes!”

In the game against Berrien, the Vikettes put 11 on the board, while the combined pitching of Camden Anders (W) and Madison Van Allen held the Rebels to 3 runs. Notable plate appearances included Van Allen and Dallas Brooks, who both went 3 for 4 and notched 2 RBI’s apiece. Addision Waring went 3 for 3, and Anders went 2 for 3.

When the Vikettes took the field against Forsyth Central, a familiar face was in the opposition’s dugout. Head coach Kelly Gordon Freeman was an assistant coach at Lowndes from 2017-2020 prior to moving on to Forsyth Central. Lowndes went on to win the game 6-1 under the solid pitching of Madison Van Allen, who only allowed three hits and one run, while collecting five strike-outs. Ellie Shaw and Kaci Demps both went 2 for 2 for the Vikettes’ offense.

The Vikettes next home game is Friday against Houston County at 6 pm.
