The Baltimore Ravens have rewarded the greatest kicker of all time with a contract befitting such an honor. The team announced on Monday that they had signed Justin Tucker to a four-year extension that will reportedly make him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell had just tied Tucker for that distinction earlier this month when he was rewarded with a four-year, $20 million extension worth $5 million per season. Tucker’s new deal is expected to top that contract.

It’s a worthy honor for an individual who is likely the greatest player to ever play his position. The deal will keep Tucker in Baltimore through the 2027 season and also reduce his cap hit in 2022.

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley is reporting that the contract is worth $24 million over four years, a new average of $6 million per season, with a whopping $17.5 million in guarantees.

It’s hard to argue that he doesn’t deserve it.

The Ravens have locked up the GOAT Justin Tucker for the foreseeable future

A five-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro, Tucker is the most accurate kicker in NFL history. He’s connected on 91.1 percent of field goals throughout his 10-year career and is coming off a season in which he led the NFL with a 94.6 percent success rate.

On top of that, he’s missed just four of his 386 career extra-point attempts. Tucker also holds the record for the longest field goal in NFL history after his historic 66-yard game-winner against the Detroit Lions last season.

Simply put, there has never been anyone like Justin Tucker, and there may never be again. He deserves this extension and then some.

This move also allows the Ravens to create a little extra cap space with Tucker’s extension lowering his 2022 cap hit. That gives the Ravens a little extra financial flexibility in case they need to make an addition or two.
