Police arrested two people after making a drug bust during a traffic stop over the weekend in Union City.
On Saturday, Union City police officers stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of North Main Street and learned that the driver had active felony warrants out of Oklahoma County. Police said the officers took the driver into custody and searched the vehicle.
They found 25.75 ounces of meth, more than 400 Xanax pills, assorted other narcotics, two tear gas hand grenades and a rubber ball riot grenade.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol's bomb squad responded to the scene because of what police found.
Police arrested the driver on a passenger on several complaints.
"This is a prime example of why our officers are so proactive when it comes to traffic enforcement," Police Chief Adam Taylor said in a social media post. "Simple traffic stops lead to cases that are so much bigger. They find very bad people with bad intentions, and take dangerous drugs, firearms, and even riot hand grenades off of the street.
"When you see one of your Union City Oklahoma Police Department officers, be sure to thank them for keeping our community safe. Excellence in Action!"
