An update on the new high school is on today’s Mitchell School Board agenda. Robin Miller, who is an architect for Omaha-based Schemmer, is expected to update the board on the new building. Miller presented the initial plans for the school in June, and the estimated cost was $62 million, which is around $20 million over what the school district has budgeted. Miller told the board that several features could be delayed to bring the initial cost down. The current high school was built in 1962 and is not up to code in some areas. The new high school would be built across the street from the current high school.

Today’s Mitchell School Board meeting begins at 5 PM at the MCTEA building across from Mitchell Senior High School. The meeting is open to the public.
