Cape Lookout National Seashore rangers said a small sailboat was found on the oceanside beach of Shackleford Banks on Thursday.
They believe the sailboat may have drifted out of Beaufort inlet and washed onto Shackleford Banks.
Anyone missing a small sailboat is asked to contact the park office on Harkers Island (252-728-2250) and ask to speak with a US Park Ranger.
Callers will be asked to provide a detailed description of the sailboat.
They add that the sailboat does not appear to be involved with any missing boaters or persons.
