ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police were called to investigate a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality Monday morning.
The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. in the Carrsville area of Isle of Wight, at the intersection of Joyners Bridge Road and Holly Run Drive.
The investigation revealed the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet van ran the stop sign on Holly Run Drive. A 2009 Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on Joyners Bridge Road struck the van as a result. The driver of the Silverado, 20-year-old Mason Paul Rhodes of Chesapeake, was killed in the crash.
The driver of the van, 24-year-old Jose Ivan Marquex-Lizardi, was not seriously hurt. Police charged him with reckless driving, no operators license and no seatbelt.
