'How I Became a Pirate!' takes show on the road

Storybook Land Theatre is taking its production of "How I Became a Pirate!" on the road. The tour started last week. Remaining shows are today at 7 p.m. at Hoven High School, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Legion hall in Bowdle, Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Groton High School, Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Main Street bandshell in Ipswich and Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at Anderson Park in Sisseton. Storybook Land Theatre is part of Aberdeen Community Theatre. Scripts for the ACT's next production, "Steel Magnolias," are available for 48-hour checkout at K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library, 215 Fourth Ave. S.E., and at the theater office, 417 S. Main St. The cast includes roles for six women of various ages. Auditions are from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 14 and 15 at the Capitol Theatre, 415 S. Main St. Performances will be in September, though dates are not yet finalized.
