Four Roland-Story players make all-HOIC first team in softball
Roland-Story had six players given all-Heart of Iowa Conference recognition in softball for the 2022 season.
The Norse put four players on the first team and had two named honorable mention after going 20-10 and taking second in the conference with a 10-4 record.
Senior catcher Macy Friest, junior center fielder Reagan Faber, senior pitcher Madison Geise and senior shortstop Ally Ringsby were the four Roland-Story players named to the first team.
Friest hit .386 with four doubles and 15 RBIs and she threw out four base runners in conference play. Faber posted a .511 average with seven doubles, one triple, 21 runs, 11 RBIs and 11 steals on offense and she only made one error on defense.
Geise and Ringsby were both utility picks on the all-HOIC first team.
Geise went 9-4 with a 2.08 ERA in 74 innings and hit .396 with three doubles, one homer and 13 RBIs. Ringsby recorded a .367 average with four doubles, one homer, 16 runs and 11 RBIs at the plate and she made 23 putouts and assists apiece with just four errors in the field.
Juniors Kayley Birkland and Allyn Solberg were named honorable mention. Birkland posted a .324 average with one double, one homer, eight runs and six RBIs and Solberg hit .316 and scored eight runs.
The other all-HOIC first-team selections were Saydel's Dakota Lake, Rylee Carney and Ryley Pecina, Prairie City-Monroe's Riley Johannes, Lark Drake and Belle Hudnut, Greene County's Emma Hoyle, South Hamilton's Mackenzy Grady and Perry's Lydia Olejniczak.
The all-HOIC second team consisted of Perry's Maci Tunink, Macy Kilmer and Karagyn Whelchel, Saydel's Caydance Sharp, PCM's Rylee Parsons, Addison Steenhoek and Sidney Shaver, West Marshall's Josi Zahnd, South Hamilton's Anna Lammers and Greene County's Olivia Shannon.
