Palmerton (Carbon County) - The Lehighton Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police were called out to the Rausch Haus Bar at 950 Delaware Ave., in Palmerton around 10:45 Saturday night, for a report of shots fired outside of that bar.

When Troopers arrived, they say the suspect, identified as Leonid Opacic, 40, of Walnutport, was allegedly armed with 9mm Taurus handgun. After talking with witnesses, they say Opacic was dating the ex-wife of an unidentified victim. After the two were thrown out of the bar, Opacic allegedly went to his car and pulled out the handgun. Bystanders, including an off-duty police officer intervened, allowing the shots that were fired to not hit the victim.

We're told there were altercations over the last few days between the Opacic and the victim related to this. Opacic was arrested and charged with attempted homicide and other related charges.
