FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – A new Disaster Recover Center is open to assist Kentucky flood survivors who have experienced losses from the July flooding.
Knott County has opened a Disaster Recovery Center at the Knott County Sportsplex, located at 450 Kenny Champion Loop #8765 in Leburn. The recovery center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Knott County Disaster Recovery Center becomes the second one in Kentucky, joining the recovery center located at Oneida Elementary School in Clay County.
According to FEMA, survivors in Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Whitley counties can go to either center and receive assistance applying for FEMA assistance.
Assistance offered might include money for temporary housing, basic home repairs, and various other diaster-related needs.
It is not a requirement for those in need of assistance to go to a disaster recovery center. Homeowners and rents in the counties above can go to the FEMA assistance website, call 800-621-3362, or use the FEMA mobile app as well.
