Uxbridge man killed, four others seriously injured in Upton crash

An 18-year-old Uxbridge man was killed Saturday night when the car he was riding in crashed in Upton.

Police said Jacob Osanya was pronounced dead at the UMass Medical Center following the 9 p.m. crash near the intersection of Glenview and Pearl streets in Upton.

According to Boston 25, investigators said preliminary information indicates that the 2019 Acura operated by 18-year-old Gabriel Dias De Holanda, of Bellingham, was traveling North on Glenview Street when he lost control of the car and it drove off the right side of the street. The car struck a tree on the front passenger side, where Osanya was riding at the time of the crash.

De Holanda and three backseat passengers, all from Milford, were transported to the hospital with serious by non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Upton Police Department.
