ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County deputies arrested a St. Petersburg police officer on a battery charge on Aug. 6.
Hillsborough County jail records show that Robert Turner was booked into the county jail at 4:20 p.m. The records listed Turner’s occupation as a police officer.
Turner was arrested after his adult daughter accused him of hitting her face with an open hand. Police said she didn’t sustain any visible injuries.
On Aug. 23, the courts dismissed the charge with no prosecution against the Lieutenant.
In a statement to 8 On Your Side, the St. Petersburg Police Department said Turner was placed on administrative leave while it awaits the results of the investigation.
According to the police department, Chief Anthony Holloway convened a Command Review Board on Wednesday to review the domestic battery arrest.
The board concluded that Turner violated “City Rules and Regulations Group III Offense, #26 for unlawful or improper conduct either on or off the job, which an employee knows o reasonably should know could negatively affect the employee’s relationship to the job, fellow workers, reputation, or goodwill in the community.”
According to the department, Turner is suspended with 200 hours without pay and has to undergo mandatory counseling through the Employee Assistance Program. He is currently assigned to Patrol, Uniform Services Bureau.
Lt. Turner has been serving as an officer with the St. Petersburg Police Department since Dec. 28, 1998.
