This new John Anderson tribute album is impeccable.

The record, Something Borrowed, Something New: A Tribute to John Anderson, just dropped on Friday, and features a stacked list of artists like John Prine, Sierra Ferrell, Brent Cobb, Nathaniel Rateliff, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Tyler Childers, Luke Combs, Sturgill Simpson, Brothers Osborne, Del McCoury & Sierra Hull, Ashley McBryde, and Jamey Johnson.

And last night at the Grand Ole Opry Saturday night show that featured the likes of Mr. John Anderson himself, along with Elizabeth Cook, Sierra Hull, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Tyler Childers made a very special appearance to duet his song from the record, “Shoot Low Sheriff!” with John.

It was a beautiful sight to see, as Tyler has been enjoying a lot of time off the road this year, aside from a few shows here and there, a couple festivals, and a Red Rocks two-fer coming up.

Written by Monroe Fields and Carmol Taylor, the song itself is a cover from Anderson’s debut self-titled studio album back in 1980.

Of course, they delivered a fantastic performance, with John having some very high praise for Tyler as he introduced him to the Opry crowd:

“I want to say what an honor it is to be up here standing with this young man. In my opinion, he’s one of the greatest singers and songwriters to come along in a long time.

Y’all are gonna be hearing a lot from this young man.”

And I couldn’t agree more… he’s spot on there.

After the performance, Tyler had a quick chat with host Natalie Stovall, where he kept his answers short and sweet, saying it “was a trip” to sing with John on the Opry stage:

“I did it for the tribute album. They told me to pick one out, and that was the one I picked, I’ve always like that one. I’ve not played it with the band, but that was a good opportunity… it felt right.

He was all over CMT growing up. That was the first time we’ve sang together, so that was a trip.”

It’s a trip to watch, too, so make sure you check it out… this is country music, folks:
