After a fire at a home in Nelson County, two dogs are expected to recover after being trapped inside.
The Nelson County Sheriff's Office said they were called to a fire at a home in Schuyler on Saturday.
They said the house had people and two dogs inside at the time of the call.
The people were able to evacuate, however, the two dogs were trapped on the second floor of the home, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies said they attempted to rescue the dogs but were unable to because of excessive flames.
Fire crews were able to quickly enter the second floor and remove the dogs, one of which was unresponsive, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies helped get the dogs down the ladder and the dogs were oxygenated and cooled down after the rescue.
Since this incident, the sheriff's office said the dogs are doing well.
The sheriff's office said the house sustained moderate damage as a result of the fire.
