South Bend East Side 12U baseball all stars opened Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken World Series play Friday in Waterville, Maine, beating host Waterville, 15-0.

David Waite led East Side with three hits, including a triple and a double. Dom Haigh had two hits with a triple and three RBI while Dylan Jankowski had two hits with a triple and four RBI. Jankowski and Zach Koontz combined to pitch a one-hitter with six strikeouts over three innings.

East Side plays Sunday night at 8 p.m. against Ararat, Maine.
