The City of Fresno has wrapped up its 2nd annual Citywide Community CleanUP Day.

Beautify Fresno organizes many cleanups around the city but on Saturday a massive cleanup took place in four hub locations: Downtown, Central, Southeast and West Fresno.

Over 1,100 volunteers took part in those areas and other groups and companies also joined in, cleaning up an area of significance to them.

Mid Valley Recycling picked up trash around its company headquarters, Fire Academy Cadets cleaned up the area near their training center, the Downtown Rotary Club joined in, cleaning up the Brewery District and Caltrans collected trash from Highway 41.

In the end, nearly 14,000 lbs. of trash and litter are off the streets, parks, and riverfronts. All this was done in about two hours.

Thanks to the hard work of our City cleanup crews and the continued support from our volunteers, we are getting closer to being litter free with each passing day. And because of your tireless efforts, we’re bringing pride back to our community,” says Mayor Jerry Dyer.

This event was sponsored by multiple businesses across the city. Beautify Fresno provided all the materials needed and volunteers were able to keep those tools for future cleanups.
