Family of Louisville man shot, killed 2 years ago now offering cash reward for information
Two years later, the family of a Louisville man shot to death while riding his motorcycle is still angered at the fact that they still have no answers.
According to police, at around 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 5, 2020, 52-year-old Scott Wright was driving home on his motorcycle. He was driving down Crittenden Drive in the Saint Joseph neighborhood, when a passing-by train forced him to stop.
According to his family, surveillance video shows a person leaving a vehicle behind him, drawing a gun and shooting him multiple times in the head and chest area. Wright died at the scene.
"We want to know who did it," said Melissa Rich, Wright's sister. "That's all we want to know, is who did it."
With tears running down their faces, Melissa and her brother, Don Wright, returned to the very spot where their brother was shot to death.
It's been more than 730 days since that tragic day, and they said they are even angrier now because they are just as clueless as on day one.
"The only thing we know is that there are people out there that know," Rich said. "Please just call the tip line."
Ever since that night, Rich said her family has not been the same.
"It's killing me not to find out who did this to my brother," Don Wright said. "It's got me angry, it makes me want to hurt people. Just be a man and turn yourself in."
Both Rich and Wright said it feels as if they are left with no options, so now instead of waiting for answers, they're reaching deep into their own pockets. They're now offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who has even the slightest information that leads to an arrest.
"He [Scott] had a crazy nickname called Boogaloo," Rich said. "Everyone knew him as Boogaloo. Everyone loved him. I don't know what possessed them to do what they did, or why they did it, but we want to know why and who it was."
Rich said until they know they know who, each day will be harder than the last.
"We just lost our other brother in a motorcycle accident," Rich said. "We just want closure, so we can move on from this chapter. Somebody knows who did it."
According to police, an investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information, you are asked to contact LMPD as soon as possible.
