LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Saturday morning over 250 kids attended the Dominique Wilkins basketball clinic at the University of Lynchburg. The event was organized by One Community One Voice community outreach program in Lynchburg.
Kids got the chance to hit the court and learn skills and different drills from professional basketball player Jared Harrington and University of Lynchburg Men’s Basketball Coach Hillary Scott. According to Harrington and Scott the event was also about teaching kids valuable life lessons through the game of basketball.
“It speaks volumes you know it’s an opportunity to learn how to be a leader and learn different roles that will carry you through life. Learning how to monetize your brand these are conversations that I’m having with kids and a lot of professionals aren’t really having these conversations because they don’t have the access so a camp like that provides that access so it’s a beautiful thing,” says Harrington.
