FedEx driver befriends Des Moines 2-year-old through art
Two-year-old Henry Wasson loves to paint rocks. Red paint, blue paint — doesn't seem to matter. The masterpieces are set on display in Henry's street-side art gallery.
And as it turns out, Henry has a fan.
"Day in and day out, this is my route in the East Village," FedEx Ground driver Robert Sinclair said.
He sees the rock collection every day delivering packages on Henry's street.
"I knew the rocks, I've seen the rocks out here quite a bit when I'm out here every day," Sinclair said.
But little did he know, Henry is a fan of his work too.
It's become a routine in the Wasson household, whenever a package comes in the mail, Henry gets to show off his muscles and haul in the delivery from the porch.
The two had never met, until one of those packages came in a special delivery.
"We all sort of realized at the same time that this really, really nice FedEx driver had come, he didn't even have a package to deliver, and he had painted this rock just like Henry's rocks and left it there for him to go get," Henry's mother, Laura Wasson, said.
"It just made his day, he ran out and knew right away it was for him. 'Henry's package, Henry's little package,' is what he said," Henry's father, Conner Wasson, said.
"I'm a father to kids, too. I know little things that make kids smile through the day so I figured I kind of make his day by painting his rock," Sinclair said.
The FedEx rock now sits proudly on the Wasson's porch, which has now become an art studio for the two new friends to paint together.
