Wrong-way accident in Taney County kills driver

In Taney County, a wrong-way crash that took the life of an Arkansas woman is under investigation.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Carla McSpadden of Bradford, Arkansas lost her life in that accident.

It took place just before midnight on Thursday at US 65 and Bear Creek Road.

Investigators say McSpadden was traveling in the wrong lane when she crashed into another vehicle.

Firefighters say McSpadden became trapped in the fiery wreckage.

The driver of the second vehicle involved, 42-year-old Crystal D. Thompson of Clever, Mo.,  was seriously injured. She was taken to a Springfield hospital.
