Barton Co. Conservation educates on irrigation technology

Hello from the Barton County Conservation District.  I want to give you a heads up about a new statewide initiative that will begin accepting applications Aug. 15.  You can respond to [email protected] if you are interested in receiving an application for this program.   

The Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Conservation is pleased to announce the availability of funds in the form of incentive payments to assist landowners with irrigation efficiency technology.  This initiative is designed to promote irrigation efficiency by providing cost-share assistance to landowners for automated soil moisture probes, mobile drip irrigation systems, autonomous pivot systems, TAPPH2O Subscriptions, bubbler nozzle packages and remote monitoring systems.     

➢ Applications will be approved on a first come first serve basis.
➢ Applications will be accepted from August 15, 2022 thru September 15, 2022 or until all funds have been allocated.
➢ Incentive payments for TAPPH20 subscriptions will be made at the rate of $50 per meter.
➢ Year two and year 3 Autonomous Pivot subscriptions will be paid at a rate of $1,000 per pivot.
➢ All other eligible practices will be paid at a 50% cost share rate.
➢ The landowner limit for this initiative will be $5,000.00.
➢ Applications for multiple practices should apply for the entire $5,000 landowner limit.
➢ Invoices for the lease or purchase of eligible irrigation technology must be provided to the conservation district prior to any cost-share payment being made.
➢ Invoices for the subscription to TAPPH20 must be provided to the conservation district prior to any cost-share payment being made.
