It’s a waiting list only for this year’s Weatherford Fire Department annual golf tournament August 26.

This will be the seventh year for the annual tournament.

Tee-time is set at 8 a.m. at the Prairie West Golf Club.

The tournament is open for anyone to enter, however registration is currently full at this time. There are 38 teams signed up to play. There will be a waiting list for teams wanting to play if any current team drops out.

The rules will be following the basics of four man scramble. One change to the rules though will be the dismissal of the mulligan. In its place, teams will get a sure putt, which is a tool that gives golfers an advantage by showing how level the ground is.

Prize money will be given to the teams in first place, second place, a-flight and b-flight. Door prizes will also be given out during the tournament.

While the tournament is full, sponsorships are still available.

The tournament, itself, is Weatherford Fire Department’s one and only fundraiser throughout the year.

“This is a big fundraiser for our fire department. We utilize that money for different things for the guys here, and we put a large portion of it towards our training and training facilities. A large portion of our previous golf tournament money went towards building our burn tower,” Weatherford Fire Chief Mike Karlin said.
