Wisconsin- The DNR is reminding riders of their “Think Smart Before You Start” campaign. The safety campaign began in 2021 to curb risky riding and impaired operators. Wisconsin law requires operators involved in a crash to report the incident without delay and submit a written report to the DNR within 10 days. The DNR encourages all riders to wear a helmet, seatbelt and protective clothing when riding. Additionally, operate at speeds within your ability and never consume alcohol before riding.

Trail Report from Prospector Loop ATV Trail System:

Since the Prospector Loop ATV Trail System covers so many towns it is important for riders to know the different rules when traveling. The trail system passes through towns such as Ely, Babbitt and Tower. In those communities, street riding is allowed but in both Ely and Tower riders are not allowed on Highway 169, but they may cross it. Meanwhile in Babbitt riders are to stay off County Road 77. Ely also has additional signage for where off-road vehicles are and are not allowed.

Chisholm, MN- In just over a month the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota will host their 2nd annual Renegade Trail Run 25K and 5k at Redhead Trail. The race will take place on the single-track trail around the reclaimed iron mine. The event supports the United Way’s United for Veterans program. They still need dozens of volunteers for jobs like course prep, ATV shuttle transportation, registration, snack areas, etc.
