Florida Democrat Gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist announced today in a press release that his campaign had a record-breaking fundraising haul of $2.3 million raised in July.
This is Crist's largest fundraising haul to date.
Crist brought in over $2 million from around 11,500 grassroots supporters from all over Florida, and has raised over $14 million this election cycle.
The state of Florida provided over $960,000 to the campaign through a matching funds program.
Crist’s rival for the Democratic governor's spot, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, will receive matching dollars, as will incumbent Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Through July 25, more than $273,000 was raised for the campaign, according to Friends of Charlie Crist.
Crist’s official campaign through July 22 had already reported more than $1.34 million in contributions, including the matching funds.
The remaining dollars came in the final week of July.
Last month, the gubernatorial debate between Crist and Fried earned him the endorsements of five major newspapers, including the Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times.
A poll conducted by St. Pete Polls shows Crist leading with 56% support from the public compared to Fried's 24% support.
"I am honored and thankful for the incredible wave of support our campaign has received in our fight to build a better tomorrow for all Floridians," Crist said . "Floridians know what’s at stake in this election—women’s freedoms, LGBTQ+ freedoms, voting rights, the freedoms of black and Hispanic Floridians—they’re all on the line in November."
