Tax-free Weekend often ties in with back-to-school shopping.
According to Comptroller.Texas.gov, families can expect to save about $8 for every $100 spent.
Many of those items include clothing and footwear, backpacks, and school supplies.
Michael Moore, a Manager at Academy in Abilene, says parents who shop there expect to see some good deals that can save them some cash.
“With the way the economy is, tax-free weekend offers a great opportunity for customers to save a little bit more money on their back-to-school stuff,” he said. “We sell all kinds of apparel. License apparel. Basic apparel that we sell here. Foot wear. Backpacks. Lunch boxes. Any of those type of things are going to be tax free for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”
While some people shop for back to school clothes, parents like Jeff Stanton say they’re in need of new gear for their athletic children.
“Well, he goes through shoes like crazy these teenagers just grow so fast,” he said. “You almost have to buy a new pair of shoes every six months, it seems like. That’s what we’re here to do. Just get him some new shoes for school. I think it starts next week.”
You can shop tax free online and in-store through midnight Sunday.
