The "Brush Up Barton County" program exists in Barton County to provide paint and
supplies to citizens to paint the exterior of their home. Last month, the program
spearheaded by the Great Bend Economic Development extended assistance to their
first house in Great Bend.
The owner mentioned he wanted to repaint his house for years but was no longer
able to climb a ladder.
Economic Development Director Sara Hayden said a couple of volunteers helped paint
the house with supplies provided through the exterior home assistance program.
"We encourage anybody that still would like to apply for this program," said Hayden. "We don't plan on it going away any time soon. We do have funds dedicated towards it."
Those financially and/or physically unable to get their house painted can apply
for the program. The “Brush Up Barton County” lists household income
requirements to be eligible for the program.
