The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the driver of the 1998 Toyota Corolla involved in the motor vehicle accident in the area of the 124.5 mile marker on Highway 61 on Friday, August 5.

Ty’Ollie Bright, age 22 of Davenport, has been identified as the driver. The other occupant of the vehicle, a 14 year old, is a relative of Bright. Both remain hospitalized in critical condition. The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.

Earlier Update: A boy and a man, both from Davenport, suffered life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon in an accident in Eldridge.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the Scott Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call for a crash in the area of
the 124.5 mile marker southbound on Highway 61 in Eldridge. This roadway is a paved four-lane divided highway between Eldridge and Davenport, a news release says.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, and an investigation found that a tan 1998 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Highway 61. It was determined through the initial investigation and witness statements that the Toyota Corolla lost control, struck a guardrail on the west side of the roadway, and rolled several times, the release says.

The Toyota came to rest in the west ditch. Emergency personnel determined that there were two occupants in it, and both were thrown from the car. The man was driving, the release says.

Both were transported by Medic EMS to Genesis Medical Center. The boy male was later airlifted by MedForce to the University of Iowa Hospitals with life-threatening injuries. The man remains at a Genesis Medical Center, also with life-threatening injuries, the release says.

The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County VIPS, Scott Emergency Communication Center, Eldridge Police, Davenport Police, Iowa State Patrol, Medic EMS, Davenport Fire Department, Eldridge Fire Department, MedForce, Iowa DOT, and Highway Helper all assisted with the crash.
