The movie musical parody is a heartwarming and raunchy tribute to the 2011 film
“Bridesmaids” is perhaps the funniest flick about the best bunch of bridesmaids in the past 15 years. While fans of the 2011 movie would love a sequel, there is a newer project hitting the Las Vegas desert that you will want to RSVP with a plus one right quick.
The Honor of Your Presence is Requested…
“Bridesmaids: The Unauthorized Movie Musical Parody” is bringing its own bridal party to The Venue inside The Orleans Hotel and Casino this fall. Much like the movie, the female-driven musical follows a group of girlfriends as they compete, not for the wedding bouquet, but for the role of Maid of Honor. The 90-minute show is expected to deliver some of the most comedic capers from the ladies as well as hilarious and heartwarming moments the audience came to love from the movie.
“I’ve always been attracted to movies and storylines about strong female characters, and I love that this musical parody is a love story to friendships,” Show Writer Valerie Witherspoon says in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring the world premiere of ‘Bridesmaids: The Unauthorized Movie Musical Parody’ to the Las Vegas stage. It’s going to be perfect for date nights, bachelorette parties, and audiences of all kinds – no matter if they’re the film’s No.1 fan or haven’t seen it at all.”
Hollywood Hit
“Bridesmaids” the movie centers around two best friends, Annie and Lilian. Annie’s life is a mess and not where she wants it to be. When Lilian becomes engaged and a wedding needs to be planned it is up to Annie to deliver. What soon comes is a gathering of the goofiest gals in one bridal party along with food poisoning, public pooping and Wilson Phillips.
The film that pits two women against one another for the coveted role of Maid of Honor, was released in 2011 and went on to make over $288 million worldwide.
Cast Of Characters a.k.a. ‘Female Fightclub’
“Bridesmaids: The Unauthorized Movie Musical Parody” brings a cast of characters beloved from the silver screen to the Las Vegas stage. The role of Annie who was played by Kristen Wiig in the film is being taken on by Nicole Unger. Maile Onsaga (played in the movie by Mya Rudolph) is Lilian, the bride to be. Though, we can’t wait to see how she handles the pooping in public scene. Rose Byrne brought Helen to life in film, but for the Las Vegas show it is Erin Baltsar who carries on the role of new Best Friend to Lilian. Another beloved character was Megan, who was played by Melissa McCarthy in the movie. That role is being filled on the stage by Caitlin Ary.
“Bridesmaids: The Unauthorized Movie Musical Parody” premieres Thursday, September 22 with previews starting Friday, August 19. The show is presented by Theater Mogul, Lynn Shore Entertainment and Ivory Star Productions.
