Arrest made in Macomb burglary
A Tazewell County man was arrested in a burglary reported east of Macomb in May.
Kyle Sebree, 30, of Delavan is being lodged in the McDonough County jail on $25,000 bond.
A trailer, motorcycle, UTV, and ATV were reportedly stolen from a property in Salem Township.
Some of the property was later located in Tazewell County and returned to the owner, but detectives are still searching for the trailer.
Local auction company sold
A local auction company is being acquired by Big Iron Auction.
The agreement between Sullivan Auctioneers of Hamilton was finalized last month.
The two companies have more than 80 years of combined experience and will have more than 300 employees together.
Big Iron has other locations in Nebraska, Indiana, and Minnesota.
The company says the Sullivan family will continue to lead the Hamilton location.
Amtrak suspends Carl Sandburg service
Amtrak has cancelled the Carl Sandburg train between Quincy and Chicago until Monday because of equipment shortages.
The Carl Sandburg runs from Chicago to Quincy every morning and returns to Chicago in the evening.
Amtrak is contacting customers to arrange refunds or book them on the Illinois Zephyr, which will still be operating.
The Illinois Zephyr runs daily form Quincy to Chicago in the morning and returns to Quincy in the evening.
Burlington business honored in state contest
The Beancounter Coffeehouse and Drinkery, 212 Jefferson St., won $7,500 in the state Open 4 Business pitch competition in Pella.
This is addition to winning $8,000 earlier this year when named a finalist in the competition.
Beancounter plans to add boba tea to the menu with its earnings.
This is the eighth year of the Open 4 Business contest, which is open to businesses in the 53 “Main Street Iowa” districts across the state.
Carman Road closure
Editor's note: IDOT announced late Friday afternoon that BNSF has postponed the project. No new date for the work has been announced.
A portion of Carman Road will be closed beginning Monday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The affected stretch is from Asher Street in Lomax to Township Road 400 North.
The closure will allow BNSF Railway to make repairs to its railroad crossing.
IDOT expects the project to last about five days.
