Modern-day Star Wars is great for numerous reasons—the storytelling, the fantastical worlds, the feeling of what it would be like to be traveling the stars. It’s one of the few properties that I genuinely would love to be part of—both in a creative sense and a living sense; it’s one of the reasons I love Galaxy’s Edge as much as I do. Another neat part of the modern-day galaxy far, far away is that those that get to play in that universe are likely fans. They grew up watching the original trilogy and/or the prequel trilogy.

No matter your feelings on the sequel trilogy, I think we can all agree that J.J. Abrams’s The Force Awakens was a beautiful love letter that showcased how much he cared for the franchise. Since then, we’ve either seen or been privy to actors fulfilling their dreams by being part of the Star Wars universe in some way. Kevin Smith voiced a Stormtrooper. Joseph Gordon Levitt played Slowen Lo. Simon Pegg played Unkar Plutt. You get the idea.

One such fan that has yet to appear in a Star Wars? Rahul Kohli.

Rahul Kohli Insinuates He was Almost in Star Wars

Kohli, maybe best known to the geek space for playing Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti in iZombie (but don’t sleep on his role as Owen in The Haunting of Bly Manor or Sheriff Hassan in Midnight Mass), is a lifelong Star Wars fan. It’s the reason he became an actor.

Fans have been fan-casting Kohli as fan favorite Ezra Bridger for some time now. We reported on some of the artwork that’s been done and one of the biggest names in fan art (though, now he does official art for studios too!), BossLogic, has done his own take of the actor as Ezra.

Sadly, as much as fans have voiced their opinion on Rahul Kohli joining the Star Wars universe, there have been other voices that have been a bit nasty about it. Well, Kohli took to Twitter posing some “What if?” questions.

While the top Tweet doesn’t mention anything about Star Wars specifically if you read the whole thread, you’ll see where the actor hints at a “what could have been” had his scheduled been clear:

"If I had to be honest, I guess I’m sharing it now because I’ve had to read tweets about me ‘begging for a role in SW’ and ‘Disney would never hire you’ and I’ve bitten my lip for years wanting to be like ‘YO I ALREADY BOOKED IT…’"

This writer is incredibly happy that Rahul Kohli is perfectly happy with the decisions he made—he should be! His career continues to be amazing. But I can’t help but wonder what a world would have looked like with Kohli in Star Wars. Here’s to those stars, both here and in a galaxy far, far away, aligning.

Next. Don’t expect to see John Boyega in the MCU anytime soon. dark
