A free septic workshop is being held for Chautauqua County residents on Tuesday, September 27. The Lake Erie Watershed Protection Alliance received a grant from the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute for the virtual workshop. It’ll take place from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. with attendees eligible for a $30 rebate for a septic tank pump-out.
Jamestown City Council will consider tonight a resolution for the city to apply for a $500,000 grant to redevelop the Furniture Mart Building. A public hearing will first take place at 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers to gather public comment on the city’s application to the New York State Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) under the Restore NY Communities Initiative.
Parents are being warned about fentanyl drugs that look like candy. The Chautauqua County Health Department, Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office have issued an alert about “rainbow fentanyl,” which is the name of brightly colored pills that look like candy but are really a synthetic opioid that is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine.
