David Owen Dunham

David Owen Dunham, 76, died July 25, 2022, in Bennington, Ks.

Dave was born on July 24, 1946, in Los Angeles County, Calif., to Robert and Winifried (Spies) Dunham. He was raised by his guardians, Gene and Ruth Kruger.

Dave graduated from Elkhorn (Nebr.) High School in 1964. While in high school, he was active in track and football, earning both an academic and football scholarship to Doane College in Crete, Nebr.

Dave completed his bachelor of arts degree in 1969 and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta at Doane.

David married Cathy (Ward) Dunham on Jan. 28, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Dave enjoyed a rewarding career in education, teaching and coaching at Bellevue High School, McCook High School, Scott Community High School, Guymon High School, Salina South High School and Bennington High School before retiring in 2009.

He also ran a successful lawn care business, Dunham’s Lush Lawn, until the time of his passing.

Dave was preceded indeath by his parents and his guardians; a brother, Danny Emley; and sisterin- law, Glenda Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy, of Bennington; three sons, Jeremy, Nathan and Joshua, all of Salina; siblings, Richard (Debra) Dunham, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jim (Mary) Kruger, Stayton, Ore., John (Liza) Kruger, LaVista, Nebr., Jerry (Corina) Kruger, Omaha, Nebr., and Joe (Peg) Kruger, North Platte, Nebr.; a brother-in-law, William Ward, Palisade, Nebr.; sisters- in-law, Cindy (Tom) Monnahan, Palisade, Nebr., Cheri Ward, Mc-Cook, Nebr., and Dwana (Edward) Flaig, Palisade; granddaughters, Hailey, Heidi and Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was Aug. 1 at the Palisade Methodist Church with Pastor Elias Mukindia officiating.

Burial was in the Palisade Cemetery.
