BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Brenda Faye Etheridge Zauner, age 61, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2022, at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., following an unexpected illness.

Born March 23, 1961, in Pensacola, Fla., she was a daughter of Donna Reamer Etheridge and the late Henry Etheridge. She moved to Ware County in 1984, and shortly after relocated to Pierce County, which she was proud to call home for over 35 years.

Brenda, along with her husband Fred, is most well-known in her community for owning and operating the Golden Corral Restaurant in Waycross for many years. Most recently, Brenda worked part-time at Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant and at Ross Dress for Less in Waycross.

Brenda was an active, caring person who loved interacting with people. A devoted friend, mother, grandma and wife, her simple joys in life included spending time with her family, gardening and reading. She had attended Winona Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Fred Zauner of Blackshear; two sons, Chad Zauner (wife Rana) of Bickley and Brant Zauner of Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Chandi Zauner, Corbin Zauner, Hudson Zauner, Chaden Zauner, Kellen Zauner, Braxton Zauner, Cambri Zauner, and Lincoln Zauner; mother, Donna Reamer Etheridge of Pensacola; sister, Debbie Feaster (husband Tom) of Tennessee; brother, Mike Etheridge (wife Annette) of Milton, Fla.; and several other relatives. A passionate dog lover, Brenda also considered her dogs, Gracie and Lacie, to be members of her family.

A memorial service was held Thursday, August 4, in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
