Ted Culver, age 73, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 5, at the Breckenridge Cemetery with Michael Hildreth officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held just prior to the service, at 10 a.m. at Morehart Mortuary.

Ted Louis Culver was born December 1, 1948, in Prescott, Arkansas, to George Louis Culver II and Marjorie Smith Culver. He attended schools in Bridgeport and Graham. Ted began working when he was young and started at Carsten’s Motor Company. Later, he had a part in building Bailey Auditorium here in Breckenridge. Ted also worked for Sammy Rodgers in the oil field as a driller on drilling rigs. In 1967, at 19, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served one tour in Vietnam before his honorable discharge in 1970. Ted loved fishing and fished his entire lifetime. Recently, he had attended church at Jeanette St. Church of Christ and was baptized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marjorie Culver; two brothers, Michael Reed and Bruce Culver; and one sister, Brenda Culver.

Ted is survived by Rena Berkley of Breckenridge; his two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Gregg of Breckenridge, and Missy Michelle Brown and husband Patrick of Copperas Cove; his former wife and mother of his children, Shirley Taylor; one step-daughter, Carissa Berkley; one sister, Marla Strickland of Fredericksburg; one half-sister, Julie Sanders of Benbrook; and six grandchildren, Dylan Gregg, Kobie Gregg, Kevin Brown, Tristan Brown, Raelynn Brown, and Caeden Brown.
