(West Fargo, ND) -- A Sheyenne High School Graduate has been selected by the University of Oklahoma to receive a national scholarship.

Graduate Henry Christiansen was selected by the University of Oklahoma to receive their National Merit Scholarship. The scholarship will provide between $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study. Henry was announced to be one of the 16,000 semifinalists selected for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

To qualify, Henry completed an application for the scholarship, which included "writing an essay, describing leadership positions and contributions in school and community activities, showing an outstanding academic record, and being endorsed and recommended by a high school official. He also had to take the SAT® or ACT® and earn scores that confirmed his performance on the initial qualifying test" according to a release sent by West Fargo Public Schools.
