Back-to-school event offers Akron kids free shoes, haircuts and more

 A free back-to-school event giveaway that includes a new pair of shoes for children 18 and younger will be held Aug. 6.

The second annual "Back to School Kick-Off" will be held Aug. 6 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Remedy Church, 1700 Brittain Road in Akron. The event will feature name-brand shoe giveaways, physicals, haircuts and more, while supplies last. Free shoes will be available for children 18 and under and the child must be present.

The event is sponsored by The Remedy Church, AxessPointe Community Health Centers, Lucky Shoes, the ADM Board, FirstEnergy, New Balance and Connect.
