ELEMENTARY THIS MORNING, AND HAS REACTION TO THE FIRST DAY BACK... MANNSDALE UPPER ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND PARENTS RECEIVED A WARM WELCOME THURSDAY ON THE FIRST DAY OF FULLY IN-PERSON LEARNING IN TWO YEARS. AND THE STUDENTS COULDN'T BE MORE READY...EXCITED ABOUT IN-PERSON ACTIVITIES THEY COULDN'T DO FROM HOME. LOUIS GRAY - 3RD GRADE MANNSDALE UPPER ELEMENTARY <"I HOPE WE COULD DO LIKE A VOLCANO THAT COULD EXPLODE> " SEAN MARTINEZ - 4TH GRADE <I LIKE PROGRAMMING THE ROBOTS AND STUFF."> MANY PARENTS WE SPOKE TO ARE EXCITED AS WELL...TO GET BACK INTO BOTH A ROUTINE...AND A SENSE OF NORMALCY. Madison County Schools welcome students back to class

First time in 2 years students have had fully in-person classes

For the first time in two years, Madison County Schools students are back to fully in-person classes.The first day for students was Thursday after two years of COVID-19 protocols. Parents at Mannsdale Upper Elementary said they feel comfortable sending their children back, especially after facing challenges with virtual learning."Our daughter knows what to do. She knows to wash her hands. She knows to sanitize and wear her mask," said parent Siedah Austin.Madison County Schools Superintendent Charlotte Seals said the district is prepared to keep children safe."I think we're at a different stage with COVID-19, where we're learning it's still here, obviously, but we have so many more tools in our toolbox in terms of how we deal with it," Seals said. "We must deal with it, but we're just grateful that we can get back to a greater sense of normalcy."Thursday was the first day of school for Madison County kindergartners with last names that start with A through L. Friday will be the first day back for children with last names that start with the letters M through Z.
