Program Sends Reminders Of Upcoming Court Dates

By Karla James Aug 4, 2022 | 12:37 PM

Law Enforcement agencies in Lancaster County are taking part in a pilot, “Gov2Go” program in an effort to reduce the number of people who fail to appear in court for a traffic or criminal citation.

The program allows people to sign up for reminder notifications of their upcoming court date by either text or voice messages at several points before court.

Officers are being asked to hand out an information sheet at the time a citation is issued. That contains instructions on how to sign up to receive the notifications.

The project started August 1st and will continue for 6 months and then will be reevaluated. They hope this program will benefit everyone as failing to appear in court can be costly for the criminal justice system and for those who were cited.
