After his huge win on the highly-publicized trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has joined forces with Jeff Beck in forging his next career - in making music.
Depp was not new to the music industry, as he already made a name for himself before embarking on his acting career.
Now, it seemed like Depp, along with his new music partner, Jeff Beck finds themselves in the middle of a plagiarism issue.
Johnny Depp, Jeff Beck Stole these Lyrics?
In a Rolling Stone report, it says that Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck, in their new song "Sad Motherfuckin Parade," contained stolen lyrics from an incarcerated man's poem.
Apparently, the lyrics from their new song were lifted from an unpopular "toast" that was sung by a man named Slim Wilson but was documented and released by renowned folklorist Bruce Jackson in 1974.
The song contained "strikingly similar" lyrics from Wilson's poem called "Hobo Ben."
Wilson sang this particular stanza on "Hobo Ben": 'Ladies of culture and beauty so refined, is there one among you that would grant me wine?/I'm raggedy I know, but I have no stink/and God bless the lady that'll buy me a drink.'/Heavy-hipted Hattie turned to Nadine with a laugh/and said, 'What that funky motherfucker really need, child, is a bath.'"

Meanwhile, a huge chunk of the lyric found its way into Depp and Beck's 2022 song, which sang: "I'm raggedy I know, but I have no stink/and God bless the lady that'll buy me a drink.'/Heavy-hipted Hattie turned to Nadine with a laugh/and said, 'What that funky motherfucker really need, child, is a bath.'"
The album, "18," which was released earlier this year, made no mention of Slim Wilson or Bruce Jackson.
As of this writing, Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck's team have not yet responded to the allegations of stealing lyrics.
Meanwhile, the original publisher and producer, Bruce Jackson expressed his disappointment in the alleged copying, noting that almost the entire song was stolen except for two lines.
"I've never encountered anything like this. I've been publishing stuff for 50 years, and this is the first time anybody has just ripped something off and put his own name on it," he said to the outlet.
