Judson College, founded in 1838, was the fifth-oldest women’s college in the United States before it shut down last year.

The small, Baptist-affiliated college campus in Marion has gone silent and many of the items and furnishings left behind in its buildings will be auctioned off.

That will include college yearbooks, history books and other texts from the library and vintage furnishings such as tables, chairs and bookcases, along with unusual items such as vintage sets of tea cups.

Scott Williams, CEO of High As the Sky Auction Co. in Wetumpka, said his company will be handling a three-part online auction for select personal property of Judson College.

“This sale will consist of selected rare books, Judson College books, antiques, collectibles, artwork, furniture, historical Items, Judson collectibles and much more,” Williams said in a statement sent to AL.com about the auction.

The first sale will be live for registration and bidding on Aug. 7, with more than 1,300 lots, which is single items or groups of items sold as a unit.

The second sale will be live on Aug. 14, with about 1,000 lots.

The final sale will be live on Oct. 8.

“We are looking forward to representing the college with a professional online auction,” Williams said.

Full details and registration can be viewed here on the day each online sale goes live.
